New covenant

Jeremiah spoke of a new covenant, one that would not be broken - one writen on the hearts of all men.

The covenant of old was broken though God was their husband. The new covenant would be something different.

The psalmist prepares us for covenant with a penetential rite.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.

Hebrews tells of the submission of Christ to . He was made a high preist of a new covenant

So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming a high priest, but was appointed by the one who said to him, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"; as he says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek."
John shows Christ's submission and God's response.
"Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say--' Father, save me from this hour'? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."
Christ's submission is the basis for the new covenant. He glorified the Father through it. The old testament readings show how we can follow. We too can have the words of the covenant written on our hearts.
